Arizona Museum for Youth

Danielle and I took Landon and Preston to the museum last week and they had a lot of fun! It wasn't quite what we were expecting as far as the "art" but they still had a blast! Most pics are blurry because the boys wouldn't hold still! Also, a writer for the Mesa Independent was there and asked to take pics of the boys for an article! Here is the pics he took.. I've Been SEW busy!

I have been working really hard on getting my BossyBoots Baby boutique organized for the street fair in November. I have been sharpening my sewing skills by making things like burp cloths, binky clips, owl teethers, nursing covers, and my latest and greatest.. a maternity hospital gown! Here are the pics.. The first time I make something I always make it for myself because there is sure to be errors, but all in all I think it came out so cute and I can't wait to wear it someday for baby #2!
I also went to the store today and bought a BUNCH of new fabrics so I will be adding those to my BossyBoots site as well as the fabric options to order stuff. I'll post the link when everything is up and running!! In the meantime, here are the pics of the hospital gown!

I love my new table!

I am so in love with my new work space! I am free to make any sort of mess I want without worrying about cleaning it up to eat! Here are a few things I sewed at it last night and today..

One WOman's trash is another WOman's treasure..

I had been on the hunt for a sewing table for awhile now. I usually sew at my dining table but it makes such a mess and hubby and I don't like pushing all my crap aside so we can eat! I had searched on craigslist and then decided goodwill was the way to go. On my first trip I got a cute lil sewing table with no machine for $13. Then, the week after I was told it was 50% off Sat. so Mom and I went to a few different goodwills and found a real prize! I got this table for $20! And YES, that includes the machine and all the notions and manuels and extra accessories that were in the drawers! So I decided to fix it up a little to fit into my decor better. Here are the before and afters!

The machine is a Kenmore zig zag machine circa 1970's and YES it works still!!!

A coat or two of KILZ primer..

Some lovely black spray paint and some sandpaper to distress the edges..I did the drawer handles in satin nikel finish.

Sew much fun!

I have been getting better at sewing and I have made a few exciting things! I made a pillowcase for my neighbor's daughter out of her crib sheet. It came out really cute! I also made mini pillowcases for my parents travel size pillows. I did an apron that came printed on one sheet and you cut out the pieces and sew them together. It sounds easy, but there were minimal directions so I ended up doing it my own way, trial and error! It took me about 2 days (obviously everything takes twice as long with a toddler running around!) And I also made a nursing cover out of a yard of fabric i got for $3 on clearance at hobby lobby! I have a few more projects in store, like a super cute baby blanket!

Preston's first swim lesson

Here is some video footage of our little man's first swim lesson at 16 months old! I have never uploaded a video before so I don't know if the quality impoves over time.. it is an HD camera so it should look a little better than this! If not, sorry for the quality!

Summer Cleaning Series- Part 3- Bathrooms and Master Closet

Today I felt a little sluggish, so I decided to take a nap with Preston and attempt this stuff when I woke up. Much to my surprise, it didn't take long at all to complete. Here are the photos!
